Cambridge Systems Provide Support for Haiti Relief Effort
Contingency Communication System Put Into Action
The Cambridge-designed Satellite Contingency Communication System was developed and delivered to the US Naval Network Warfare Command (NETWARCOM) under a contract with the Charleston Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR). The system, which is self-sustained, ruggedized, and transportable, provides emergency communications capability. It was recently put into service during the Haiti Relief Effort when it was deployed by the Naval Construction Division. As fixed and traditional communications were devastated by the earthquake, the Cambridge system was placed into service. It provided immediate connectivity and supplied users with restored, supplementary communications, including both voice and data connections.
The system utilizes an INMARSAT BGAN terminal, a reinforced computer, telephone, and various power adapters and cables for adapting to vehicle, solar, or commercial power depending on which is available. The entire system is fitted within hardened transport cases. In addition, it has an expansion capability for establishing “office-like” operations with email and voice connectivity and an all-in-one printer/fax/copier for additional users or longer deployments.
The Cambridge Contingency Communication System has been deployed world-wide with great success. It provides a reliable means for establishing connectivity in remote, hostile, or other environmentally challenging locations. For more information please contact Cambridge.
