Cambridge to Expand Afghanistan Counter Drug Information System
Company to design and install a Dari-language counter narcotics intelligence collection system
In a joint effort with US Central Command, the US Air Force, and the US Drug Enforcement Agency, Cambridge will design and install an expanded and improved intelligence collection system in four provincial locations across Afghanistan as well as the hub in Kabul. The system is an expansion of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency’s Center for Drug Information (CDI) system. It will include a Dari-language user interface, satellite based communications connections, and data processing and storage capacities. The CDI system expansion will also tie into Cambridge’s previously designed and deployed Counter-Narco Terrorism Intelligence Fusion Center (IFC) system in Kabul.
The Cambridge effort is the first expansion of the CDI system within Southwest Asia that allows partner nation personnel to directly input first tier intelligence. The expanded system will provide both Afghan and US Governments with timely counter narcotics information. Such law enforcement information sharing has proven to be a key component in narcotics detection, monitoring, and interdiction. The system will be maintained and supported onsite and remotely with Cambridge technical and intelligence personnel.
